Filipina actress and singer/songwriter Lovi Poe’s upcoming single Under portrays a relatable and emotional love story for a modern era. With inspiration drawn from contemporaries like Ariana Grande and Halsey, the vibrant number starts with a catchy melody that etches itself into your brain, causing you to sing it endlessly.
The song definitely has a psychedelic element. It analogises hopeless love with that of drug addiction; “Under the influence just to get over you. Under your spell, I just want you to love me too.” This is all unravelled by beautifully haunting synths which add real tonal definition to the track.
For the single, Lovi immersed herself with critically acclaimed and multiple Grammy-winning producers Bob Robinson and Sydney “Omen” Brown. Recording took place in Austin Ward’s studio residence in West Hollywood. Due to their strong chemistry and highly creative collaboration, the power team decided to record a debut EP, which will be out this coming May.
