The Independent Christmas Playlist: Ben Gerrard – Deck The Halls

Track 10 is by Ben Gerrard from Rochdale. Be contacted me when he found out I was looking for artists to add to my list. His song, a cover of an old traditional Christmas carol, hadn’t been released when he contacted me but I knew from listening to his other songs it was going to be a big number.

I don’t know about you, but I quite like rocking in a winter wonderland. And with Ben Gerrard’s stonking rendition of Deck The Halls, I can’t help but want to grab my air guitar and headbang until my family have to pacify me with huge quantities of mulled wine.

Deck The Halls is, of course, a Christmas staple – but once the screaming guitars grab you in the intro to this song, they will definitely not let go. That’s not to say that it’s all raucous, riotous rock – make sure you also keep out for the tastefully layered acoustic guitar parts that also make for really nice touches as the song progresses!
