The Independent Christmas Playlist: The Prods – Ring Out The Bells

Number 11 is The Prods from London. I hope they forgive me, but when they contacted me to give their song a play it took quite a few listens for it to grow on me, but I absolutely love it now.

Patrick Rowles – Creator of the Independent Christmas Playlist

We trade the overdriven guitars of Deck The Halls by Ben Gerard now for the stirring stringed instrument intro to Ring Out The Bells by The Prods for our penultimate track on the playlist.

Now, I’m willing to go out on a limb here and guess that this song has a take on the festive season that you haven’t heard before – the thought of someone dying at Christmas. We certainly haven’t heard the suggestion that we trade our jingle bells for funeral bells before, and this song is definitely an interesting and original twist on the normal season fare by these London rockers.

You can listen to Ring Out The Bells on the Independent Christmas Playlist, which has been lovingly compiled by Patrick Rowles. Read more about the Independent Christmas Playlist here!
