The Daily Dip: Palberta – Palberta5000

You can tell the NYC trio legitimately have a great time writing their music. It makes me miss my schooldays when I would jam with friends – not knowing exactly what we were doing, but having a blast in the process.
When this album finds its groove it is unstoppable, but the shifts in disposition are too many to digest. They may vamp on a single instrumental passage and then layer a single lyrical sentence or two a dozen times. I get it, they’re building harmonic tension and release. And that’s the point. And this wouldn’t bother me if it was used a more sparingly.
Still an intriguing listen despite its flaws and actually more accessible than their previous work. Check it out on Bandcamp and let us know what you think.
