After the disappointing “comeback” album Shiny and Oh So Bright in 2018, I was hoping the grunge/alt rock veterans may have redeemed themselves on this new LP.
My hopes were dashed; The Smashing Pumpkins have somehow topped that failure with an even more misguided and perplexing album, which clocks in at 72 minutes. This LP should’ve at least been cut in half. All 20 tracks are in a tiringly similar vain and many end abruptly like little thought was put into the arrangements. Most songs are devoid of anything remotely memorable.
Let’s put it this way, The Smashing Pumpkins actually aged like pumpkins.
