The Daily Dip: Viagra Boys – Welfare Jazz

Attempting to develop on the brutalist punk rock of bands like Idles and The Murder Capital; Viagra Boys deliver a sophomore packed full of satire and debauchery.

Upon hearing their debut back in 2018, I was pretty much expecting a follow up like this. One thing I didn’t expect was Amy Taylor joining them for an utterly ridiculous cover of the late John Prine’s “In Spite of Ourselves” that splits the difference between tribute and mockery. Was it a dick move? Maybe. There’s a part of me that suspects they may not care either way.
