Sovirez – Sat Alone

I’ll be honest, when I think of Inverclyde in Scotland, I don’t exactly think of silky smooth R&B-infused pop vibes. But thanks to the brilliant talent of Sovirez, I am more than prepared to admit that I was wrong to not make that association.
Citing their objective as wanting to bring back live music to a world that needs it more than ever, their current weapon of choice is the live version of Sat Alone. Immaculately well performed, this performance evokes strong association with John Mayer. We’re particularly big fans of the vocal on this track, which manages to seamlessly echo the grit and huskiness of Bryan Adams, and we could even hear what we thought were slight subtle impassioned nods to Michael Jackson at points.
And that passion is justified – this song about learning some harsh lessons after being stood up yet again manages to convey a ‘bye Felicia’ vibe in the most cool, calm, and collected way possible – and if you need a theme song to sashay away from that lockdown lover who was never really worth your time, this should definitely be one of your top considerations.
