Georgia and the Vintage Youth – Colour Blind

A retro-pop delight from the Essex singer is the final release from her ‘Overthinker’ EP hearkening giddily back to Motown and girl groups from the ’60s, and more contemporarily; Amy Winehouse. There’s a wonderfully warm sound to this track, aided not only by Georgia’s wonderfully silky vocals but also by the interaction between guitar and piano which reciprocate one another during the chorus in a effortless way.
On the track’s lyrical inspiration, Georgia gives us an insight; “Colour Blind is about not feeling happy or sad, it’s about feeling nothing and it’s quite difficult to write about nothingness. I likened a lot of my feelings to concepts like black and white films, grey skies and the loneliness you can feel when a gig is over – I’ve always liked films in monochrome but living life in black and white is dull.”
Independent from her group, Georgia collabed with Mo Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire) and John Waugh (The 1975) last year on a special Covid charity single which you can download here.
