Having been lauded by critics for her enigmatic performances and previous single releases, Canadian singer Paige Warner brings us this bluesy, mellow delight. It’s a grant-funded single with a personal memorandum.
Liquor is a personal song to Paige. Bringing a fresh take on her signature sound, it sets itself apart from the average love song by tackling the uglier side of a relationship. It touches on the trauma experienced after abuse, and in doing so, encapsulates an individual’s empowerment and strength. Paige’s effortless vocal also brings a beautifully temperate feel to the track, sung over a solid, piano-driven rhythm section. Josh Polasz’s production skills are also on top form here.
