Upcoming debut single from Halcyon Gray is an impressive arrival for the Canadian singer. Built 2 Break is a low-key ballad with all the feels, delivered with a tenderly emotive vocal. A song about departed lovers and pining for that lost love; it uses a device which is time-tested and works wonders when executed tastefully like this.
Although the synth-pop style of the track compliments her voice adequately, a little research lead me to a live-session video of the track which I think reaffirms the strength of the song at its core, still efficacious as bare-bones.
Halcyon Gray is already showing us that she’s a talent to be reckoned with. Built 2 Break drops February 24th and I’m hyped to see what’s next.
