Hunter Moreau – Hazy

After the success of her debut single Drive In, 18 year old Massachusettsan Hunter Moreau releases a serene new follow up single Hazy. Residing in a pastoral, synth-pop cosmos, it captures the nostalgia for carefree days which have since past.

Over a delicate combination of dreamy, acoustic guitar strums and sleek percussion, Moreau’s vocals are delivered in equally soothing and consoling tones. The bridge raises the stakes slightly with a pulsating kick drum which gives the impression of an upsurge about to take place. Instead though, we’re brought calmly and graciously into the chorus with an understated kind of progression, that happens to really work with the subtlety of the vocal.

Moreau tells of her craving for that magical spark in beginning of a relationship; ‘Take me back to somewhere new / Prove to me that miracles exist / I don’t need the world just you / And I won’t want for anything but this’.

This confessional lyricism is perhaps the song’s most standout feature, and something we all can relate to. This makes Hunter Moreau necessarily listening for those who prefer raw emotion over the garish, bubblegum pop approach assumed by most others like her.

You can stream Hazy on all platforms and follow Hunter Moreau on Instagram for more.
