Florida based singer songwriter Erin Kelly’s new self-released song Fake Healing deals with emotionally manipulative relationships and the feeling of trying to give love when you are no longer able to feel love for yourself.
The track was written last year when Kelly was struggling with both her mental health and dealing with a bad breakup. Never a good combination, but at the very least, perhaps an opportunity to write something Adele-esque.
Her vocals are spirited, the arrangements undeniably pop-influenced, yet instead of relying on a weighty, dancefloor-orientated sound like most of her contemporaries, there’s a more honest and minimal feeling to the record that brings to mind artists such as Lorde and Sampha. Like the aforementioned artists, the layered vocal harmonies here are plentiful and on point.
