Well versed and educated London quintet Mad Yella have spent the last couple of years playing the jazz and soul festival circuit in the UK. Their new single With Your Love echos the sentiments of neo soul’s beloved forebearers – legends like D’angelo and Lauryn Hill spring to mind, among others.
Not only do Mad Yella pay homage to neo soul’s pioneers, but also offer to expand on the sound by bolstering it – adding more corrugation by means of harmony, autotune and studio effects. On first listen, it’s clear that they instantly fit the mold. Their music counters that which dominates the airwaves, and this is exactly what we’re looking for here on this blog.
