Today she dropped a one-off single, By My Side – a sincere, heartfelt song which sneakily ushers in the resurgence of the ballad, perfect for Valentine’s Day. With a predilection for mid-tempo, and partly to her desire to keep things pure, the track can veer towards repetitiveness. Things are saved though, by CHEL’s authentic vocal performance. Rich, striking and full of energy – it’s something that’s possibly been overlooked in favour of her message.
