New ReleaseSingle Review

“Inspiration, will you carry me all the way?” – Ashley Fields releases the spectacular new single, Still Dreaming.

The feeling we’ve lost our way in life is one that several people can resound with, particularly given the trials and tribulations of lockdown life across the globe. Ashley Fields’ poignant and hard-hitting new song, Still Dreaming, is the perfect soundtrack to those moments where our thoughts go in that direction.

Still Dreaming is Fields’ third solo offering, following the gritty and ferociously frank Concrete, and the pop-punk influenced bop of Brake Lights.

Despite the amp not quite being whacked up to eleven for this outing, Still Dreaming definitely delivers a pensive suckerpunch thanks to the brutal honesty in the lyrics – this is definitely a man baring his inner truth and pleading with the universe to give him a sign that he’s travelling in the right direction.

Despite the undeniable soul-searching by the protagonist, the song retains an upbeat, uplifting, and catchy feel that fits in spectacularly well with Fields’ back catalogue. Of course, the song features some of his trademark ‘oohs’ and ‘ohs’ which make for sensational singalong sections at live shows, and helps the track keep a pleasant feel alongside some of the pensive lyrics.
