The city of Paris has always been in tune with its creative dwelling and many musicians have taken inspiration from the idealistic charm of the capital. One Paris based producer who seems to be channelling it into their music is Darius, who has released a blissfully laidback ear worm called Rise on independent French label Roche Musique.
The track indulges in chillwave, electronic, funk… all manner of influences. And given the city of its origin, it would be easy to draw comparisons to the likes of Daft Punk. However, the sentiment of Rise is more reclined and introspective. The instrumentation is sun-drenched, melding nicely with Benny Sings’ vocal. There’s something pleasantly natural about this collaboration; Benny Sings’ rich falsettos over clicky summer sound scapes make this track instantly re-listenable.
