The Independent Christmas Playlist: Mercury Machine – The Power Of Love

“I follow Mercury Machine religiously! They covered this back in 2018 but had taken a back seat to their self titled debut album in 2019.”

Patrick Rowles – Creator of the Independent Christmas Playlist

While this isn’t an original tune and we can’t really comment on the songwriting here (however, for what it’s worth, big well done, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, for penning this brilliant song all those many years ago!), what we can say is that this is definitely a banger that has been brought bang up to date to fit in with modern tastes and sensibilities.

Mercury Machine’s cover of The Power Of Love is the perfect winter warmer for you and yours this Christmas. With synth parts that coax and coerce the song forward and are beautifully topped with a powerful vocal that can more than carry the weight of this classic tune, it makes for truly wonderful listening over the festive period.

You can listen to The Power Of Love on the Independent Christmas Playlist, which has been lovingly compiled by Patrick Rowles. Read more about the Independent Christmas Playlist here!
